Hewes Super Bowl Trophy
In: Updates
22 Jan 2011It’s shaping up to be 2 great games with the point spreads for each at less than 4 points. These games could be as tight as the current standings, with the previously mentioned log jam at the top among 4 participants. Historically, we have about 57% of the total points remaining to go, so be sure you make prudent picks by 3:00pm tomorrow.
To help with that daunting task, here is the official and expert analysis of both games.
Green Bay @ da Bears
A classic revisited for the 182nd time (most of any NFL rivalry). The Packers have the hottest QB in the league and will need him to remain so in the frigid Windy City weather tomorrow. Game time temp will be hovering just around 20 with an expectation that it will be in the low teens by the 2nd half kickoff.
The Packers look mighty “in-Vince (Lombardi)-ible” with #12 under center and he was 31 of 36 last week with 3 TDs and no picks in their huge win in Atlanta. That’s even without a running game of any consequence.
Packers 23, Bears 16
That Chicago D certainly sent the See-ya Hawks packing for a quick return home in dominating fashion. Plus, they are home. Looks like Jay may Cut(ler) up that blitzing Packer D for some big gains.
Chicago 38, Packers 14
Can you believe Green Bay is favored on the road? For Packer fans, temps in the low teens will be balmy weather. The Bears have been very inconsistent on offense and Cutler is due to be pressured into 2 or more picks.
Green Bay 27, Chicago 17
It’s the kings of smack vs. the Steel Curtain.
NY Jets @ Pittsburgh
The Jets had the Patriots number all day with a different look on D every time Captain Tom Terrific and the heavily favored 14-2 Patriots took the field. CB’s Cromartie and Revis shut down the hot New England passing offense all day. This team is hot!
NY Jets 30, Pittsburgh 20
Big Ben works miracles and proved why he belongs in his 3rdSuper Bowl in 2 weeks. Troy Polamalu is now near 100% and TE Heath Miller is back. Neither played when the Jets nipped the Steelers in Pittsburgh a few weeks ago. Sanchez can’t stay hot 3 weeks in a row…
Pittsburgh 24, New York Jets 10
The last time the Jets were in the Super Bowl it was SB3, 42 years ago. Isn’t it time for them to go again? Maybe it is, but Pittsburgh is standing in the way. It’s going to be a good one, and will be an OT game (just to keep you up to 10:30pm).

I know this insider information will help you make your bold predictions for tomorrow’s games.
BTW – did you know that this is the 1st time in NFL history that the starting QB’s for all 4 teams in their respective championship games are former 1st Round draft picks?
