Rules Clarification

Before we make our picks for SB45, I wanted to be sure you all knew the rule around an issue that surfaced a few years ago (and may have brought up in previous years, too). Namely this:
- If a particpant’s Super Bowl Bonus pick is in the Super Bowl game, does he have to pick them to win the Super Bowl?
The answer to this is — No.
I could not find any specific details on this and it may be buried in all the HSBT e-mails and letters I have filed away (dating back to 1989, I have a 3-ring binder full of inforamtion), but recent behavior would support this.
For example:
- 2008 – Buffalo Bill and Pete the Terp both had New England as their SB Bonus pick, but picked the NY Football Giants to actually win the game based on their scores.
- 2000 – Comeback Kid had St. Louis with his SB Bonus pick and picked Tennessee to win the game.
- 1998 – The Englishman had Green Bay as his SB Bonus pick, but picked Denver to beat them.
- 1994 – 1994 Winner had Buffalo as his SB Bonus pick, but picked Dallas to win the game.
- 1993 – WJH (name changed to Windy City Willy before changing to Buffalo Bill) had Dallas as his SB Bonus pick, the chose Buffalo to win the game.
