Hewes Super Bowl Trophy
In: Updates
18 Jan 2015Gentlemen,
Here we are on the verge of knowing by the end of day which 2 teams will square off in SB49. We’ve got 2 great games on tap and so I’ll get right to heart of the analysis and predictions:
#2 Green Bay Packers @ #1 Seattle Seahawks
The calf. It will determine today’s winner in a rematch of the season opener, which the Seahawks won in convincing fashion, 36-16. Along with potential for 60 mph winds, this game is up in the breezy air. Sure, Seattle has the Legion of Boom and 12th Man and QB Russell Wilson has never (yep, never) lost a game to a QB who has won a Super Bowl. He’s 9-0.
The Packers are only a shadow of themselves on the road vs. at home with a 4-4 record during the regular season.
However, having Aaron Rodgers at less than 100% is better than almost every other QB in the league who has their best day. Proof was last weekend in the thrilling win over the Cowboys. If the 4th quarter Rodgers shows up for a full game in the great northwest, the Pack will be headed to great southwest for another game in 2 weeks.
Playing the odds and with no reason to believe that the Seahawks won’t play like they have the last 7 weeks (giving up less than 10 points per game),
Seattle 31, Green Bay 13
The calf is not a problem and Aaron Rodgers is at 95% along with a renewed D, a 100+ yard game out of RB Eddie Lacy, Jordy Nelson breaking away from Richard Sherman a few times, and Seattle DB Kam Chancellor not rising to the occasion,
Green Bay 24, Seattle 23
#4 Indianapolis Colts @ #1 New England Patriots
Will this be the first of many times that Luck is on the side of the Colts and they make it to the Big Game, or will this be Tom Terrific’s curtain call? In true Patriot fashion, they may run the ball 45 times this week, after only 7 rushes last week. Do the Colts honestly have enough offensive weapons? Outside of T.Y. Hilton and newcomer Dan “Boom” Herron (formerly of college footballs’s National Champion THE Ohio State Buckeyes), there’s not a lot of depth. Didn’t matter last week in Denver, however.
And the same question looms this week – who’s gonna stop Gronk?
With a lot of time to look over the landscape and pick out one of those miniscule WR’s, Tom Brady tosses 3 TD’s in a route,
New England 35, Indianapolis 20
The AFC QB torch is officially handed over (after wins against Peyton Manning and Tom Brady), in an OT thriller as former Patriot K Adam Vinatieri does it once again from 53 yards,
Indianapolis 38, New England 35
Be sure you submit your picks by 3:00pm this afternoon. If you already sent them in before reading this post (where you know you will always get the best game analysis to ensure your victory), you can resubmit.
I’ll have a wrap-up of today’s games out tomorrow. Until then, I am
