Results After Conference Championship Games

What a Sunday!!  Guess the Eagles forgot to go to church…  Here is the game synopsyses:

Arizona 32, Philadelphia 25

Is Larry Fitzgerald unbelievable?  How good is this guy?  3 TD’s in the 1st half.  Donovan stinks up the place like 2-week old road kill on a desert highway.  How many open guys did he miss?  Had he even close to what he was down the stretch, we’d be talking about his great victory in Tempe and the 1st all-PA Super Bowl.  Instead, Kool Kurt gets another shot at a title.  The game did get very interesting when the Eagles mounted their comeback.  How destined are the Cardinals?  During the regular season they score 427 points and give up 426.  In the playoffs, they’re a completely different team, especially on D.

Pittsburgh 23, Baltimore 14, Absolutely Crushing Hits 13

Whoa – this one hurt to watch!  It made the Ultimate Wrestling guys look like a pair of 4-year old girls dressing their Barbie dolls.  And I sure the hits stung just a little more in sub freezing weather.  Too bad the Raven D was at 80%.  Has McGahee saw his neck on the replay?  Yikes!!

So, we’re left with one tiny game before the official trophy presentation begins.

Here are the standings:

  • Greg the Great – 603 points (and dusting off the mantle to make room for the trophy)
  • Ben the Butler – 448 (but only 21 measly points in the 2 games last Sunday)
  • Buffalo Bill – 407 (and making a move?  At least he didn’t get 2 goose-eggs this round as he had the other rounds)
  • 2009 Winner – 332 (got everyone right where I want them…)
  • Pete the Terp – 240 (trying to calculate what it will take to win – might be easier than getting the market up to 9,000)
  • Henrico FiveOh – 146 (can’t wait for his Super Bowl pick…)

Plus, only Pete the Terp and Henrico FiveOh have a shot at the 100 point bonus (Pittsburgh).

My official prognostication on SB43 will be forthcoming next week.  Stay tuned for more.  Keep this in mind as you plot your scores:

  • Largest comeback in the history of the HSBT Competition is 226 points (Comeback Kid over Buffalo Bill in 1993, when the Cowboys whooped the Bills, 52-17.  Hence the name Comeback Kid…).
  • Largest point difference in the Super Bowl game (without the 100 bonus) is 380.
  • Most points in the Super Bowl are 540.
  • Mathematically, everyone still has a shot.
