Henrico FiveOh Captures HSBT XXX1

In: Updates

5 Feb 2019

In a stunning come from behind win, Henrico FiveOh captured his 7th HSBT Trophy with a convincing 409-point victory over Pete the Terp in SB LIII.  Fighting through the massive on-field crowd immediately following the Patriots 13-3 yawner over the LA Rams, we were able to briefly talk with Henrico FiveOh about his victory.  “This is amazing.  It’s been a long 7 years since my last Trophy win and it just goes to show that having the lowest variance in the Super Bowl game will lead to victory!  I knew the game would be a low-scoring affair, so I submitted my game pick (Patriots, 17-14) accordingly.  7 trophies is now the record, right?  To all you other wannabe’s, you’ll have to wait until next year.  I’ll be anxiously waiting for JTB to update the trophy and mail it to me.”

HSBT Wrap-Up
Going into Sunday’s tilt, it looked like Greg the Great was on the verge of claiming his 7th trophy, but things did not work out as planned for anyone (except Henrico FiveOh).  Final point totals and finish for all participants:

  • Henrico FiveOh – 1,025 points (his all-time best), aided by a HSBT record 684 points in the Super Bowl.
  • Pete the Terp – 616 points, good for the silver medal
  • Greg the Great – 598 points, and along with Pete the Terp the only ones with a winning record (6-5)
  • Comeback Kid – 537 points and just missing the medals…
  • Buffalo Bill – 449 points and 14 years without seeing the trophy (but he lives close to Henrico FiveOh, so maybe he be able to view it)
  • 2019 Winner – 429 points in a disappointing season
  • JTB – 392 points and on the opposite end of the standings this season
  • Ben the Butler – on IR during the playoffs, and hopefully recovery is going smoothly and on schedule

Super Bowl Game Summary
Was this game going to be a repeat of the famous 0-0 tie between Harvard and Yale in 1925?  It sure seemed that way mid-way through the 3rd quarter.  Did Todd Gurley suit up for the Rams?  He was their offensive catalyst all season and was deemed to be healthy.  Jared Goff proved he was a 24-year old 1st time SB QB.  And Tom Brady proved that he was a 41-year old 6-time SB winner.  The defenses were smothering most of the game and fortunately there was not a controversial call by the zebras.  Did the Patriots bring only 1 wide receiver?  What other WR besides Edelman caught a pass from #12?  This game will not go down as a classic in the annals of the Super Bowl.

Note from The Commish
Thanks to all participants for successfully submitting your game scores on time every weekend.  As I was out of town for the 2nd half of January, I was not able to prepare my usual analysis and recap for the Conference Championship games.  Nonetheless, that did not hamper Henrico FiveOh!  I’ll be working on updating all the HSBT stats and will send everyone a summary over the next few months.

HSBT Trophy Expansion
As mentioned several months ago, the HSBT Trophy plaque is filled and we need to make room for Henrico FiveOh’s name.  The options I presented were 1) add another (larger) wood base and keep all the plaques on the front side, and 2) add a plaque to either the left or right side of the current base and begin to fill that up (the current plaque can hold about 18 years).  I did receive some feedback from participants and have decided to take this course of action.  We will move the current plaque to the left side of the trophy and add a new plaque on the front.  When the new plaque is filled up (around the year 2037), it will be moved to the right side of the trophy and another new plaque will added to the front.  When that is filled up (around the year 2055), we will need to figure out what to do…  Thus, the HSBT Trophy will have a wrap-around look, similar to the smaller and less important Stanley Cup.

I will work with JTB to make sure these changes are implemented and that the trophy is mailed to Henrico FiveOh in a timely manner.

Again, congrats to Henrico FiveOh on his win and have a good off-season.  The NFL playoffs start in 11 short months…

Until then, I am
